Studio Sessions FAQ

Tell me about your qualifications

I have been an instructor at Bedrock Supply since 2018. I am a lifelong learner, and came to my craft later in my life. I took my first metals course in 1998, and that was all it took to get hooked! I've taken many, many classes at Bedrock, and attended the Series Summer Arts program in Red Deer in 2018 and 2019. (took a break during the pandemic!) I have had some amazing teachers and mentors along the way, and love to pass on the skills to others. I'm a hands-on kind of learner, but appreciate that not everyone learns that way. I use a variety of teaching method with my students, to optimize their learning experience.

Do I need to have experience working in metal to try a class?

No! These classes are designed for the beginner. Over the course of 3 hours, you will learn to create a beautiful piece from start to finish.

What do I bring? Do I need tools? Special clothing?

Please wear shop worthy cotton clothing, closed toe shoes and have your hair pulled back. We are working with flame and chemicals, so synthetics are not recommended. I have cotton aprons for students to wear. Most materials and tools are included in the price of the session. Bring a notebook and your favourite pen, and your creative curiousity!

Can I register a friend for the same session?

Yes! My studio can accommodate up to four students at a time!  My larger group classes (different projects) are taught out of the large teaching studios at Bedrock Supply. CLICK HERE to go to the classes page and to register.

Is there an age limit?

18-118! My insurance covers adult students only.

Do I have to sign a waiver? Are you insured?

Yes, a waiver will need to be signed before the start of the class. I carry liability insurance for classes, in the unlikely event that something happens.

What about COVID? Do I need to be vaccinated? Do I need to wear a mask?

Masks will be worn for partst of the class, to protect lungs from fumes and particulates. If you wish to wear your mask all the time, I will respect your choice.

What if I can't attend? Can I reschedule?

If you test positive for COVID, or feel unwell in any way, please let me know as soon as possible so we can reschedule your session(s). 24 hour notice is preferred, but I understand that life can throw a curveball or two and I will do my best to accommodate. Sessions missed without notice will not be refunded.
