This domed copper cuff features a feather cutout, with a flame patina. The edges of the cuff were given a bright finish to contrast with hammered centre section before the flame patina was applied. In this case, the flames left a gorgeous tangerine colour along the edge. The domed shape gives the cuff a substantial look without being heavy on the wrist.
Made to fit the average wearer, the cuff is approximately 6" around, and 2" wide.
The cuff blanks are cut by hand from reclaimed copper sheet. Once cut, hammer textured and surface finished, the cuff is stamped with my maker's stamp and then heat is applied to create the patina. This kind of patination is unpredictable and impossible to duplicate from piece to piece. The flame can create all sorts of colour, from cherry red to tangerine orange, gun blue to purple, dark brown to golden bronze.
Once patinated, the cuff is formed to shape and harden the metal. After forming and finishing, the cuff is sealed with several coats of museum grade Renaissance Wax.
This cuff is one of a kind.
